BOOK DESIGN What is the “K” in K-Pop analyzes Korean identity through the lens of pop music.The by-product of rapid change, from imperialism to capitalism, the Korean Wave (Hallyu) has become its primary export. The book explores identity through a range of subjects, from gender fluidity to social isolation. Today, it has evolved into an inclusive community that now offers riginal art exhibits, films, events record releases and educational programs related to health, youth, development, education and creative processes.&nbsp; When designing the identity the history of electronic music was important to keep in mind as DJ’s have been the backbone of this community. When you’re marked by your race youbecome hyper-visible, yet invisible. The effects of how Asian people are depicted in Western media made me observant of myself and my environment. I came to the realization that I am a new person every day. Identity is fluid– it isn’t defined solely by culture, family, or the past. What really grounds me as a person is my willingness to adapt and challenge outside perceptions of myself and othersaround me.
